Skin Care For Normal To Oily Skin

Taking care of your skin is an important part of your daily routine. Good skincare prevents the premature signs of ageing, and keeps you looking and feeling healthy.

However, with so many different products on the market, it can seem near impossible to know which brand or type is right for you and your skin.

To get started, you need to first discover what type of skin you have. Most types can be categorised as dry, oily, normal or sensitive. If you have dry skin, it will feel tight, flaky, and sometimes itchy or painful. Sensitive is often red, inflamed, sore, dry or itchy. Oily is characterised by shine, acne, and enlarged pores. Normal skin is characterised by a healthy complexion, and smoothness.

Many people have a normal to oily skin type. If you find that during the winter months, your skin is normal to dry, you may discover that it becomes normal to oily in the summer months. This is not uncommon, as the climate and humidity can cause your skin to become more hydrated. If you have normal to oily skin, there are five essential products you will need. Let's find out more about them:

Cleanser:

If you fall in the normal to oily category, you will probably need a foaming or gel cleanser to remove the excess oil build-up. Most skincare brands feature a cleanser which will be suitable for you - but you should probably avoid cream cleansers, as they will be too heavy for your skin type.

Toner:

A toner suited to normal to oily skin types will help to remove cleanser residue and balance the pH of your skin after cleansing. Normal to oily types will benefit from a light, refreshing toner formula.

Moisturizer:

If you have normal to oily skin, you will need an oil-free or water-based moisturiser. Oily or heavy moisturisers can clog your pores - so stick to a gel or light liquid moisturiser.

Eye Cream:

No matter what your type, you will benefit from incorporating an eye cream into your daily skincare routine, to prevent signs of ageing such as fine lines and wrinkles.

Sunscreen:

Once again, no matter what type of category you fall into, you will need to wear sunscreen every day! Wearing sunscreen not only prevents melanoma skin cancer, it will also help to prevent the signs of ageing such as fine lines, wrinkles, skin sagging and discoloration.
