Cosmetic Shopping

The modern world has made cosmetics a much in demand product for both male and female and for all people no matter what their age and status in life is. Some people have gotten so accustomed with using cosmetics that they would not be caught dead without them.

This growing dependence on the use of cosmetics is responsible for the booming cosmetics industry. The industry is experiencing substantial growth every year, with more people being egged on to use cosmetics to improve their skin, their face and even their life!

Since almost everyone has the tendency to be sucked in into the never ending reliance to cosmetic products, it is important that a person knows what he is buying into. He should also be able to decipher which cosmetic products he can live with and without.

Cosmetics is a wide term that can refer to almost any product that a person uses to enhance his looks. It can cover the various skin moisturizers and skin cleaning products people use. It can also refer to hair care products like shampoo, conditioners and creams. Also add lotions, deodorants and other body creams to that list.

There are cosmetics that offer people the chance to become beautiful in the outside but there are also cosmetics that promise to make people feel beautiful inside and out. These cosmetics, known as cosmeceuticals, allegedly have medicinal; powers.

When buying cosmetics that can alter the way a person's body works, it is best to make sure that such cosmetics is approved by the Food and Drug Administration. Also check the ingredients of the cosmetics you are buying and make sure you use them according to specifications.

A person should be careful when buying cosmetics that are to be used directly on the skin, particularly on the face. Test for allergens and make sure that it is particularly suitable for the skin type that the person has. If not, the use of such cosmetics may just worsen an already existing skin problem.

When buying cosmetics, it is better to stick to products that a person has already tested and used for a long time. Most often than not, a person who tries on a new cosmetic product will regret such buying spree later on when he finds out that such product is not suitable for his needs.

It is also advisable to veer away from make ups that are on sale. When tempted to look at make ups that are on sale make sure to ask for their expiration date because most cosmetic products that are put on sale may already be nearing their expiration date.

It would be foolhardy to scrimp on costs and regret it later on when a person finds out that the product is no longer good for what it is intended for.

Every consumer must be discriminating when buying any product, particularly cosmetics. Cosmetics can make a person look and feel better so he should spend more time buying these products so as to make sure that he is only buying the best cosmetics for his use.

A person who wants to look and feel beautiful should be careful when buying cosmetics. Follow the instructions indicated on the package or wrapper as to the proper use of the cosmetics. This will maximize the effects and benefits that a person can get from buying the said cosmetic products.

Makeup Basics

If you're not a regular makeup wearer or you're just learning to use makeup, the terms and uses of beauty products might be a bit confusing. What exactly is the difference between lipstick and lip stain? Why do we need eyeliner? These questions and more are ones that all novice makeup wearers face. However, learning to use and apply makeup properly can be a fun and rewarding experience. The purpose of this article to describe some of the more basic beauty products and how to use them properly.

Face:

The most basic beauty product that most women use is face makeup. This is usually referred to as "base" or "foundation". From there, there are two basic types of foundation: powder and liquid. Which one is best for you? That all depends on your preference, skin type, and how long you want your foundation to stay on. For example, if you have oily skin, a mineral-based powder might be best. If you're looking for more coverage, a liquid might be a better choice. Liquid foundations are applied using either your fingers or a cosmetic sponge while powders are normally applied using a brush or cosmetic puff.

Eyes:

The basic tools of the eye makeup arsenal are eye shadow, eyeliner, and mascara. Eye shadow gives the face more color and draws attention to the eyes. Most women like to find a shade that enhances their eye color. Liner turns up the volume on this effect by defining the eyes even further. Finally, mascara adds texture and volume to eyelashes as a finishing touch. Again, preference between beauty products here also has to do with personal choice. A liquid liner makes eyes appear more defined but is trickier than a standard eye pencil to use. Shadows typically come in powder, but some women prefer crème. And there are as many mascara choices (lengthening, waterproof, thickening) as there are brands! Choose one that best suits your needs.

Lips:

If you only take the time to master one beauty product, those intended for your lips is where you can't go wrong. Lipstick is the most basic of all makeup products for the lip. Sometimes slightly waxy in texture, it adds color and definition to your smile. If you prefer something lighter, lip gloss may be more ideal. Gloss helps lips look fuller and adds just a hint of color. Lip stain serves the same purpose as lipstick but is longer wearing. Finally, lip liner – available usually in pencil form – helps bring out lips contours and should always be used in conjunction with a lipstick.

How You Should Buy

We all know how easy it is to lose control while shopping. You go in a store or on a site for 1 item and you end up buying 8. Well I don't have a money tree in my backyard so it's important to me not to let this makeup addition control my wallet. So it's a few things I try to remember before I pull out my debit card. Here's 10 things you need to think about before you buy.

Budget - Don't let your spending get out of control! Look at your wish list, research upcoming collections and check your products for things that are running low. Then make a monthly beauty budget. Prioritize what you need vs. what you want.

Research Research, Research! - I cannot stress this enough! You need to research everything before you buy. Check for sales and promo codes because we all love to save money, right? Look online for swatches on someone that's a similar complexion as you and check, read reviews, and see if something similar will be in upcoming collections.

Buy only what u can see yourself using - "OMG THAT GREEN LIPSTICK IT GORGEOUS!" Ummm no, if you can't think about how you can wear it or when and where you can wear it YOU DON'T NEED IT.

Buy refill shadows - If the brand sells pan eye shadows for palettes buy those instead of single shadows. It will save space and money.

Swatch In-store - Online swatches tend to lie sometimes, so if you can go into the store and swatch products yourself. Once you're a little seasoned you'll be able to tell what will and won't work for you in online swatches.

Accessories - Buy things like mascara wands, cotton balls, sponges, and etc. from stores like Walmart. No need to pay more at cosmetic stores.

Store lighting - In-store lighting is NOT your friend! How many times has a product looked great on you inside the store and when you get home you have the WTF face on? Carry a mirror and go outside in natural light to see if you really like it.

Shop your stash - Check your stash for items before you shop. You don't want to buy something and it's a dupe for something you already have.

Keep your empties - MAC has a program called Back 2 MAC, you can take 6 empty MAC containers and trade them for a free lipstick, eye shadow or lip gloss.

Collections - When shopping collections check and see if any items are permanent. You can buy permanent items anytime so focus of limited edition.
